In February 2025 we flew to San José del Cabo , hired a car and drove to Todas Santos on the pacific coast of Baja Sur, Mexico. We explored the small town for a few days, discovering lovely quiet beaches down potholed dirt roads. There we were treated to the sight of spouting and breaching Humpback whales and lots of birds, new to Paul. The shops met Lois’ approval as did the food and coffee for us both. We then went on a week-long yoga/meditation and learning retreat hosted by Dori Howard on the idyllic premises of the Yandara Yoga School by a white sandy beach just south of TS. Both Paul and Lois left feeling unexpectedly renewed, peaceful and grateful for the new friendships we had formed. We spent the afternoons sitting on the beach and watching the surf and the whales. The remainder of our time in Baja was spent exploring the southern half of the peninsula, including the capital, La Paz, eating more amazing food and sampling tequilas (Lois). We visited friends in Los Barriles calling on the way to see the fascinating old town of El Triunfo which has a museum of mining as well as one celebrating the culture of the Vaqueros. Close to the beach as Los Barriles we witnessed the amazing leaps of groups of Mobula Rays. During our last days in Jan José we went snorkelling. Not very successful as it was too rough but we were treated to thrilling , close up sightings of more Humpbacks.
